How to test the Mention Me LIVE implementation

Once you have implemented the Mention Me tags across all the touch-points as recommend in your Monday board, you will need to carry out some tests in order to confirm that the integration is working as expected. 

Before testing live tags, you must check and ensure that the following are completed:

• the Mention Me tags across all live website touch-points are using URL

tag.mention-me.com

• you have uploaded voucher codes into your live account. If you have not done so already, please follow this guide Add vouchers
• check that the triggering rules are set up for each campaign accordingly with the locale in question for the corresponding market. To do that navigate to Campaigns> find the campaign in question> click on Triggering Rules arrow to open the triggering rules section

•  the experiment is set as running 
•  the Debug mode is enabled. To enable the Debug Mode on your account on the MM platform, go to Settings & Tools > Debug Dashboard, then click on the blue button on the right that says Activate Debug Mode.

Important note: Remember that the Debug mode gets automatically disabled after 1 hour. If testing takes longer or you need to come back to it at a later point, please remember that you need to enable Debug mode again. 

Testing the live tags

Once you have completed the above, please follow the below guidance for testing each of your tags:

Setup your Google Chrome console

1. From Chrome’s menu (upper right corner), go to More Tools > Developer Tools

Alternatively, right-click on the page and click on Inspect elements: 

  2. Go to the Network tab

 3. Click on the filter icon

 4. Select JS and write “mm” in the search bar

Referee link on cart/checkout page

Before testing, make sure that the campaign you need to test is set up as running.

1. Go to your website, right-click on any area of the page and click on Inspect

2. Go to the Network tab

3. Add an item to the cart

4. Go to the cart/checkout page

The referee tag should fire - you should be seeing it in the Network tab, with a 200 status - click on the file starting with mm:

Important note: Remember that the MM tags fire once the page is loaded. If you didn’t have the console open when the page was loading, you need to open the console and refresh the page so that the tag re-fires.

Check that all of the following parameters are present:

1. Partner code

2. Locale code

3. Situation

Important: Take the following screen-grabs when testing and save them - you will be required to provide them to us via the Testing Integration  - live tags section in your Monday board. 

When in Network tab > Headers - make sure the entire request URL is visible 

When in Network tab > Headers - make sure all parameters are visible

Click on the Been Referred By a Friend link to make sure that the content displays as expected:

The mmWrapper

If the referee tag fires but the Been referred by a friend? link is not appearing on the page, it might be that the element mmWrapper (the “container” for the referee tag) has not been added to the page.

1. On the console, go to the Elements tab

2. Press ⌘F and search for “mmWrapper”

If the element is not there, please add the mmWrapper as explained in the Integration Instructions.

If the element is there, but the referee link is not displaying, check the Console tab for any errors (in red)/warnings (in yellow) - a guide for tag errors can be found here.

Referrer popup on order confirmation page

Once checked the cart/checkout tag:

1. Insert payment details and delivery address.

2. Make sure the console is open before confirming the order

3. Place the order

The referrer tag should fire - you should be seeing it in the Network tab, with a 200 status.

Get the order number and ask the client to cancel and refund it (if needed).

When in Network tab > Headers - make sure the entire request URL is visible 

When in Network tab > Headers 

Check that all of the following mandatory parameters are present:

1. Partner code

2. Locale code

3. Situation

4. Currency

5. Order subtotal (must be exc. VAT and shipping)

6. Email address (must be URL-encoded - to check it, hover over the tag: if the email address contains “@”, is not encoded; if it contains “%40”, is encoded).

A customer_id parameter is not needed. 

Check the email address (must be URL-encoded - to check it, hover over the tag: if the email address contains “@”, is not encoded; if it contains “%40”, is encoded). Alternatively, click on view encoded. 

The referrer popup should appear. If it doesn’t, it means that there are errors in the integration. Please check the implementation of the Referrer Tag on pospturchase and ensure the following:

• The tag is set up to fire as per our instructions
• There are no any triggers that might be preventing the tag from firing 
• All mandatory parameters are present in the tag

The integration logs

Navigate to your account on the MM platform > Settings & Tools > Technical setup > Debug dashboard. Search for your email address using the email filter:

You should see an entry with the details of your order when you expand it. Please check that all the mandatory parameters listed above are present:

Double check that all of the following mandatory parameters are present:

1. Partner code

2. Locale code

3. Situation

4. Currency

5. Order subtotal

6. Email address

Copy the link form the browser to this section where your order log has been reflected and provide it in your Monday Board. 

Navigate to the Dashboard of your account> Customers 

Search for the emails address you used to place an order. 

Open your customers section. Check if the transaction and the referral offer have been reflected in this section. Copy the link from the browser to this section and provide it in your Monday Board. 

Landing page

Navigate to your landingpage. It will follow this or a similar structure:

The landing page tag should fire - you should be seeing it in the Network tab, with a 200 status:

Check that all of the following parameters are present:

1. Partner code

2. Locale code

3. Situation

The mmWrapper

If the landing page tag fires but the iframe is not appearing on the page, it might be that the element mmWrapper (the “container” for the landing page tag) has not been added to the page.

1. On the console, go to the Elements tab

2. Press ⌘F and search for “mmWrapper”

If the element is not there, you need to add the mmWrapper as explained in the Integration Instructions.

If the element is there, but the iframe is not displaying, check the Console tab for any errors (in red)/warnings (in yellow) - a guide for tag errors can be found here.

Dashboard (Only for clients that have this tag implemented)

Go to the account page on your website - you need to log in.

The dashboard tag should fire and the Mention Me content should look like that:

You should be seeing it in the Network tab, with a 200 status.

Check that all of the following parameters are present::

1. Partner code

2. Locale code

3. Situation

4. The email must be URL-encoded
