How does Mention Me work?
At the heart of Mention Me is our referral platform which lets existing customers of our clients become referrers, share introductory offers with their friends in various ways, and get rewards when their friends purchase with our clients for the first time.
Our platform manages, measures and optimises the referral programme(s), including AB testing different rewards and offers, and tracking and serving content that supports the referral flow. In order to operate the referral programme, we need your customers’ first names, surnames and email addresses. This will enable us to register and communicate with them as referrers in your programme. See below for the full list of data we require.
Referral data becomes one of the key signals that help you understand the advocacy of your customers.
How does data get transferred to Mention Me?
All data is passed to us over HTTPS (TLS 1.3+) from Javascript tags or API calls in your checkout journey, on the order confirmation page, and on other selected landing pages. Or, in some cases, via SFTP over SSH as a data feed from your back office systems.
We can also share data back with you via event-driven webhooks or via any of our direct integrations with marketing automation providers like Emarsys, Klaviyo, Salesforce or Ometria. We can also schedule batch feeds of customer data via SFTP for you to process.
Customer information stored by Mention Me
Mention Me stores data only for the purposes of running your referral or advocacy programs. Data that is stored includes:
- Customer name (required for communication)
- Customer email address (the unique identifier for referral)
- Customer Id (optional to connect the user in your systems)
- Order or Transaction id (required to count and de-duplicate transactions accurately)
- Order total (required to track AOV and report on the value of advocates)
- Order currency (along with order total)
- Coupon code (optional)
- IP address of the customer
- Cookie identifiers (optional)
- Phone numbers and postal addresses (optional)
