About the prebuilt journey
With this prebuilt Attentive journey, you can remind your existing customers to use the coupon codes they have received from introducing a friend to your brand.
This helps to increase the repeat purchase rate by reminding referrers to come back and use their reward.
Note: This does not replace the initial reward email that Mention Me will still send the customer once they have successfully introduced a friend to your brand. This is an additional touch-point that you can utilise to help increase the repeat purchase rate.
Basic workflow
- An existing customer of your brand gets a coupon via SMS after they have successfully introduced a friend to your brand
- A further SMS message is sent to them with their coupon code if they have not purchased anything yet
Note: Reminders are sent at different times to encourage the customer to use the coupon.
Activating the Journey
Prerequisites
- An active Mention Me referral program
- An active Attentive account
- Mention Me / Attentive integration enabled
Steps to activate
- Login to your Attentive Account and go to Journeys -> Prebuilt Journeys
- Select the Mention Me - Coupon Reminder journey to install
- The Received a Referrer Reward from Mention Me journey trigger is the pre-selected entry point in the program
- Update the wait periods to suit your own coupon validity period. Mention Me has created the journeys using some default wait periods (to send out multiple reminders).
Note: If you are unsure of your reward validity period, reach out to your Mention Me CSM to check the validity period for your campaign.
- Name each of the messages to something that is easy for you to track
- Mention Me has created some default content with suggested variables (for your SMS body) to help you formulate the right message. You can either use the default content or create your own message.
If creating your own messages, make sure to include the personalisation variables.

The reward that the referrer will get "£30 or 15%" {{triggerEvent.custom['Coupon Code']}} This is the coupon code of the reward that the referrer has been given to use on their next purchase “XYZ-123455" {{triggerEvent.custom['Formated Coupon Expiry']}} This is the expiry date of the coupon that the referrer has been given formatted to the country of the referral offer being given
Short format:
UK: 31/01/2023
US: 01/31/2023{{triggerEvent.custom['Call to Action URL']}} This is the URL of where the referrer can spend their reward “www.mention-me.com"
