This guide shows you how to boost your referral programme offline using QR codes and printed links on flyers, product boxes, and other physical materials. You’ll learn how to set up a Mention Me-hosted landing page, configure tracking, and create a shareable QR code or URL.
Step 1: Create or Use a Campaign for Your Offer
You can create a new campaign just for your leaflet promotion, or use an existing one if the offer isn’t channel-specific.
- Go to the Campaigns section of your Mention Me dashboard.
- Create a campaign and set up the rewards as usual.
- Use the Triggering Rules section to define who should see this offer (more on this below).
Step 2: Set Up a Situation Parameter for Tracking
Before you make your campaign live, decide on a unique situation parameter—this helps you track exactly where your referrals come from.
For example: situation = box-promo
- Set this condition in the campaign by adding a triggering rule:
Situation is equal to box-promo - If you serve multiple countries, add a locale code (e.g.
en-GB) to show the campaign to the right customer group.
Where to Add This Rule
You’ll add the situation rule in the Triggering Rules section of your campaign setup.
Step 3: Launch the Campaign
When your campaign rules are in place, set your campaign live.
Step 4: Get the Hosted Enrolment Page
Once your campaign is live:
- Click the three-dot menu (⋯) next to your campaign.
- Select Visit Enrolment Page. This opens your campaign’s hosted, shareable landing page.
- Edit the end of the URL to make sure that the situation parameter is added. If you have used a locale code in your triggering rules, include the locale code too.
The link is only accessible while the campaign is live, and only the people with the link can use this specific offer, as long as you don't use the situation elsewhere.
Example enrolment page URL:https://mention-me.com/me/referral/register/mmf4a3d761/RBPAWGOK?situation=box-promo
Example enrolment page URL including locale code:https://mention-me.com/me/referral/register/mmf4a3d761/RBPAWGOK?situation=box-promo&locale=en_GB
Step 5: Create a Sharp QR Code or Use the Link
Paste your enrolment page URL into a QR code generator to create a printable code for your flyer, box insert, or shop display.
- Generate a QR code for your printed materials
- Or copy and share the link directly—wherever you need
No extra segmentation, CRM steps, or email targeting are needed—this provides a simple, standalone experience that’s ideal for offline promotion.
Track and Optimise Your Results
By using this method, you deliver a seamless, measurable referral experience through any printed collateral, and you can track effectiveness using your chosen situation parameter.
Final Tip
Choose situation values (like box-promo or leaflet-june24) that are clear and easy to tell apart. This makes it simple to see which physical channel is driving the most engagement in your reporting.
This approach turns your leaflets and packaging into powerful, trackable referral drivers—without extra complexity in your digital setup.
