To improve your security, you can integrate Google OAuth with Mention Me, allowing employees to log in using Google. This removes the need for passwords and lets you manage access through your Google Workspace console.
User provisioning and role assignment are still managed within Mention Me.
Feature Overview
Mention Me supports authentication via Google OAuth for users with Google Workspace accounts.
- Users authenticate using their Google credentials.
- Email/password access is disabled when OAuth is enabled.
- For users with access to multiple brands, login methods depend on the brand’s setup (OAuth or email/password).
Caution: Only users whose email matches your configured Google domain can authenticate. All others will lose access.
Preliminary Requirements
To enable Google OAuth, you need:
- A Google Workspace account
- A verified domain linked to your Google Workspace
- Users with email addresses that match this domain
Enabling Authentication
An administrator needs to configure both Google and the Mention Me platform.
Google Setup
- Go to the Google Cloud Platform Console
- Create a new project
- Go to APIs & Services > Credentials
- Click Create Credentials → OAuth client ID
- Configure the OAuth consent screen. Mention Me only requires default scopes and an entry for your domain
mention-me.com - Save the consent screen settings
- Select Web application as the application type
- Provide a name for the OAuth client ID
- Set Authorized JavaScript origins:
https://mention-me.com - Set Authorized redirect URI:
https://mention-me.com/oauth/google/client/redirect/xxxx(replace xxxx with your account identifier) - Click Create to generate your client ID and secret
- Copy the client ID and secret for Mention Me configuration
Mention Me Setup
- In Mention Me, log in as an administrator and visit the SSO configuration page (Demo link)
- Choose Google as the SSO provider
- Enter the required values:
- Client ID & Client Secret: From Google setup
- Domain: Your organization's Google-managed domain. (Only users with email addresses under this domain can authenticate)
Warning: Only enter domains your organization controls. Improper configuration may open up access to unauthorized users.
Note: Once OAuth is enabled, email/password login will be disabled for all users under the configured domain.
Default Permissions
When users log in using OAuth, Mention Me can assign default permissions:
- Demo platform: "Marketing" access
- Live platform: "Customer Service" access
This can be toggled via a checkbox on Mention Me’s SSO setup page. Admins can later adjust user permissions manually.
Tips
- Users can manage access settings via Google Workspace: Go to your Google account → Security tab → Account Permissions → Mention Me → Revoke Access. This will prompt users with the consent screen again on their next login.

Subject: Login Update — Switching to Google Authentication
Hi,
We're updating how you access the Mention Me platform:
What’s changing?
- Login will now use Google Authentication instead of email/password
- This applies to both live and demo platforms
Why?
- Stronger security and easier access management
- One less password to remember
How it works:
- Click “Login via Google” on the login page
- First login: Use your [domain] email to identify yourself
- Future logins: Just click and go
Disabling Google Auth
If you decide to disable OAuth after enabling it, note:
- Users can log in again with email/password, but new users won't have a password by default
- A password reset must be triggered manually so they can gain access again
