About the Mention Me integration
The perfect way to integrate high-quality first-party referral data into your Salesforce Marketing Cloud, before using it to improve the effectiveness of your customer marketing activity, unlocks better ways to segment your customers based on next-best action and propensity to refer. By using Extended Customer Revenue estimates you can better target high-value segments
The integration is fully self-serve and requires no extensive IT development and it can all be setup in under 10 min by following the steps below
Our integration lets you
- Send contact data and opt-ins from Mention Me referred customers to SFMC in real-time
- Use referral data to create coupon email reminders (referrer and discount next order)
- Enhance the performance of other marketing channels by using referral data to segment and target high-value customers
Before you begin
To access the full features of our integration with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, you need to be on our Optimise package. Reach out to your Mention Me Account Manager to learn more and upgrade if needed.
Prerequisites

Salesforce Marketing Cloud - You would need to have at least Administrator or Marketing Cloud Administrator as your roles
- Mention Me - You will need access to the Mention Me platform (If you do not have access, reach out to your Mention Me CSM who can sort it out for you).
Step 1. Create a Mention Me App in Salesforce Marketing Cloud
Log in to your admin Salesforce Marketing Cloud account to create a Mention Me App that will be needed to set up the integration in Mention Me.

Ensure you have Installed Package > Administrator permissions in Salesforce.

In Marketing Cloud, go to Setup > Apps > Installed Packages

Click New.

Name the package Mention Me

Name the package Mention Me

Save the package.
Note: After saving the package, you can view the details.

Under Components, click Add Component.

Make the following selections:
Component Type: API Integration
Integration Type: Server-to-Server Integration

Once you’ve created the new API Integration, click Edit and select the following permissions to add to the API Integration:

Journeys > Read & Write

List and Subscribers > Read & Write

Data Extensions > Read & Write
-

Click Save.

Navigate to the installed Mention Me application to find (You will need this in Step 2):

Client Id
- Client Secret

Copy the section of the Rest Base URI between https:// and .rest. (This will be the Subdomain you need in Step 2.)

Step 2. Set up the integration in Mention Me
Now, complete the following procedure to set up the integration in Mention Me:

On the Mention Me platform, Click Connect to begin the setup process

Agree to the Terms and Conditions to allow Mention Me to transfer data to Salesforce on your behalf (If applicable. If you have already done this, then this will be skipped).
- Click New authentication

Enter the following information, which you collected in Step 1 and select Save
- Client ID
- Client Secret
- Subdomain

Click Create
- Mention Me creates contacts in Salesforce Marketing Cloud using email as the contact key, untick this option if you use a different value as your contact key. This will not stop the sending of contacts to Data Extensions created by this integration)
- Click Authorise

Select the countries you want to sync with Salesforce
Top Tip: Depending on which countries you use Salesforce in, you can select to only send data from specific Mention Me enabled countries
- Select Connect
- Mention Me will now set up the integration and create some Data Extensions in Salesforce
Note: This could take up to 1 minute to complete, and you will be taken to the next step to finalise the setup
11. Once the integration has been successfully setup, you will need to link the Mention Me custom fields Data Extension to your contacts
