How contacts are created in Bloomreach by Mention Me
The following rules will apply when sending the contact information to Bloomreach:
- Mention Me will first check to see if the customer already exists (using email as the identifier)
- If the customer does not exist on your Bloomreach instance, then a new contact will be created
- Mention Me will only set the email property of a customer in Bloomreach if there is no existing value
- If the customer does exist on your Bloomreach instance, then the existing contact will be updated with only Mention Me specific fields
- If the customer does not exist on your Bloomreach instance, then a new contact will be created
Customer consent
You can choose to capture customer opt-in consent as part of your Mention Me customer journey, and then these are sent directly to Bloomreach without the need to download CSV files.
If a customer consents to your newsletter either via the Mention Me referee journey or via a newsletter post-purchase overlay, the opt-in request will automatically be sent to Bloomreach.
The consent is tracked using the Bloomreach consent tracking event based on the consent category you selected when you set up the integration.
There will be a tracking event shown against the customer profile in Bloomreach that the customer has consented to opt-in to your newsletter
Within the consent event, you can see at which point in the Mention Me journey the consent came from. This will be shown in the data_source field with the following options:
- mention_me_referee = This is from the referee journey when a prospective customer opt-in to your newsletter
- mention_me_newsletter = This is from a post-purchase journey if a customer decides to opt-in to your newsletter for a non-referrer offer (if used)
Note: A customer can also consent to receive your newsletter via other channels outside of Mention Me, so Mention Me is not the source of truth for all your consent
