This article explains how the Top Performers report helps you to drive meaningful insights at scale and potentially save tens of hours each week by automating the reports that take the most time to create.
What is a Top Performers report?
This report type allows you to analyse your highest-performing creatives, using advanced filters, key metrics, and by grouping your ads by the most valuable segments of performance variables.
How to create a Top Performers report
- Click “Create Report” and select Top Performers (shown below).
- Select which platform (Meta or TikTok) you want to create it for.
Using the Top Performers report
As shown in the screenshot below, you can:
- Select your timeframe to report on by clicking the date picker.
- Choose your metrics to include by clicking the “+ add” button.
- Add filters and group your ads in a variety of ways — more details below.
Grouping your performance variables
To the right of the date picker, you’ll see “group by,” which allows you to select any campaign variable to aggregate your data. This gives you a deeper understanding of the key drivers of performance and allows you to compare segments clearly so you can make decisions quickly. You can:
- Group by Ad/Adset/Campaign setup variables — For example, see which ad names perform best or which campaign objectives are driving the most scale.
- Group by Copy elements — Find out which headlines perform best.
- Group by Naming Rule Tags — How to set up and use Naming Rule Tags
- Group by Creative Breakdowns — These are AI-driven categories to help you understand how human presence, logo, and text prominence impact your performance (and much more!). These can be set up for paid customers upon request; please contact your Account Management team for more information.
Slice and dice your data with advanced filters
You can choose your filters by clicking the “+ Add filter” button shown in red on the screenshot below.
- Choose any field – these can be any campaign structure variable (e.g. format, campaign name, etc.) or a metric (e.g. CPA, CPC).
- Choose a condition — For metrics, indicate whether you want to filter out ads with greater than or lower than values. For campaign variables, include a text value (e.g. campaign “contains X”) or select “is one of” and pick a campaign name via the “select values” box (as shown below).
- Remove filters by clicking on the “x” next to the metric name above the Grid, Bar, or Timeline visualisation.
Grid, Bar and Timeline visualisations & how they interact with data tables
You can select grid, bar chart, or timeline views to help visualise your data by clicking the respective option (highlighted in red on the screenshot below).
- Grid view is the default, giving both a quantitative and qualitative view of your creatives so you can make changes without searching for a preview.
- Bar chart view features a thumbnail for easier comparison of metric performance by ad or segment.
- Timeline view helps visualise the peaks and troughs of your performance. Use this with CTR vs Spend metrics to see how volume and engagement change over time—it’s especially useful for spotting ad fatigue.
Templated Top Performers reports
There are a few templated reports already available for this report type, so you don’t have to create your own for the most common use cases. All of the following are available in the side panel for both Meta and TikTok:
- Top Creatives – grouped at creative level to see your highest-performers
- All Active – shows what's live now
- Top Hooks – shows which ads are best at stopping the scroll
- Top Clicks – see which ads are generating the most clicks
- Top Copy – an overview of your messaging to drive improvements in your copy
