This article explains how the Comparison Groups report works, and how to set it up.
What is the Comparison Groups report?
This report type enables you to construct individual segments of ads using advanced filters, so that you can compare them against each other. It helps you build a hypothesis that can define your next creative approach, or change in strategy. You can also use it to evaluate the results of recent tests.
How to create a Comparison Groups report
- Click “Create Report” and select Comparison Groups (shown below)
- At the top of the report, select which account and timeframe you want to segment your ads for
- Define each group of ads to compare by first selecting the platform they’re in from the dropdown on the left of the first row
- In the box next to the platform selector, input a name for your segment to make it easy to understand what you’re comparing. In the example below, we’re comparing Static vs Video vs Product ads
- Using the pink “Add filter” button, select your filters to capture the ads you want in each segment. For the example we have selected the Ad Types for each segment.
- Click “Add Group” to add as many segments as you want
Using the Comparison Groups report
Once you’ve defined your segments, it’s time to analyse your performance. Below the segment editing section, you’ll find the same reporting UI as you’ll be familiar with from the Top Creatives report type. You can:
- Choose a visualisation tool, such as the default Grid view, bar chart or time series
- Scroll down to see a data table
- Click into any group in Grid view to see a sidepanel of the ads that are in that group
- Add or change metrics at the top of the visualisation tool
As with our Top Performers report, you can save and share your report using the buttons at the top right. For more information on the reporting UI features, see the Top Performers Report article.
