The Mention Me Shopify App allows you to install the Mention Me experience in a Shopify store using Checkout Extensibility features.
Not sure if you're using Checkout Extensibility? See our guide on the Checkout Extensibility Upgrade, our Shopify App Installation guide, or contact our team for help.
Previously, all customer journey elements were managed in the Mention Me platform. With Checkout Extensibility, some screens are now configured in Shopify. This guide walks you through how to edit the experience across both Mention Me and Shopify.
This assumes you've already installed the Shopify app and are ready to configure the customer experience.
Checkout (“Been referred by a friend?” Link)
When clicking the “Been referred by a friend?” link in Checkout, users are prompted to enter who referred them.
Parts of this overlay can be customised via Mention Me or Shopify, depending on the content type.
To Change the Image
- The image is set via the Shopify admin
- Log into the Shopify Admin Console
- Search for "Mention Me" and open the app
- Update the image in the Referee experience section
- Recommended dimensions: 1200 × 300 px
- Do not reference specific offers, as this is shown to all referees
- All styling for this modal is inherited from Shopify's theme and cannot be overridden
To Change the Copy
- Controlled via the Mention Me platform
- Located in the Name search offer preview
- Toggle “Text editing mode” and edit the highlighted content
- Click "Save & Preview" to apply changes
Thank You & Order Status Pages
The post-purchase Mention Me “Refer a Friend” journey displays on the Thank You and Order Status pages.
Do not place this block within the right-hand Order Summary sidebar — it will be hidden on mobile.
To Change Banner Copy and Imagery
- Copy is controlled in the Mention Me platform
- Edit copy in the offer preview within Entrypoint API content
- Use “Text editing mode” to update content
- Edit both the Personalised and Generic tabs
- To add an image, click "Add an image for this step". The image will auto-scale.
Shopify does not allow changing the default grey background color of the banner.
- Once a customer engages with the initial CTA, all subsequent pages in the referral journey are handled entirely within the Mention Me platform.
Any modifications in the EntryPoint API preview will also affect any mobile app implementations powered by EntryPoint.
Customise Checkout Colours in Shopify
Follow these steps to update the colour styling of your Shopify checkout (including Mention Me content):
- In your Shopify admin, go to:
Settings → Checkout → Configurations → Customise - In the Checkout Editor, click the settings cog icon on the left-hand side menu.
- Scroll to the Colour section. Use the colour picker or enter a HEX code (# value) to change:
- Accent
- Buttons
- Error colours
Note: These changes apply to your entire checkout flow — not just elements from Mention Me.
