The Mention Me Shopify App allows you to install the Mention Me experience in a Shopify store which has the Checkout Extensibility features enabled.

Prior to the Checkout Extensibility feature changes, all changes to the customer journey were visible and amendable within the Mention Me platform itself. However, with the Checkout Extensibility changes, some screens or experiences for customers are not solely contained to within the Mention Me platform, with some settings set within Shopify itself. This guide describes these changes and how to make changes to the experience across the Mention Me and Shopify platform(s) as applicable.
This guide also assumes that you have already installed the Shopify App and are now looking to make changes to the customer journey experience itself.
Checkout ('Been referred by a friend' link)
When clicking the 'Been referred by a friend' link in the checkout, the user will be prompted to enter the name of the friend who referred them.
Elements of the content of this overlay are controllable. Some of these settings are controllable within Mention Me, others within Shopify itself.
To change the imagery of the 'Been referred by a friend' overlay:
- The imagery is controlled within the Shopify Admin console.
- Login to the Shopify Admin console.
- In the search bar at the top of the page, search for 'Mention Me' and select the Mention Me app.
- You can now upload or replace the existing image shown in the Referee experience box.
- We recommend an image of 1200 x 300px.
- The image should not reference any specific offer or promotion as this image will be used for all customers who click the 'Been referred by a friend' link.
- All other styling of the 'Been referred by a friend' link will be inherited from the Shopify styling and can not be changed specifically for this link.
To change the copy of the 'Been referred by a friend' overlay
- The copy is controlled within the Mention Me platform.
- The copy is displayed at the offer preview level - within the Name search preview.
- To change the copy, select the 'Text editing mode' toggle at the top of the page, and then select the copy you wish to amend and change this using the editor before clicking "Save & Preview".
Thank you pages / Order status pages
On the Thank you page / Order status page on Shopify there is a Mention Me Refer a Friend Journey that promotes the programme to your customer. This journey should not be placed in the Order Summary sidebar on the right hand side of the Shopify Page as it will become hidden on mobile devices.
To change the copy and imagery of the banner:
- The copy is controlled within the Mention Me platform.
- The copy is displayed at the offer preview level - within the Entrypoint API content preview.
- To change the copy, select the 'Text editing mode' toggle at the top of the page, and then select the copy you wish to amend and change this using the editor before clicking "Save & Preview". Ensure you review both the "Personalised" and "Generic" tabs within the editor to configure the copy that is displayed when the content can / can't be personalised.
- To add an image into the banner, click the "Add an image for this step" button on the Entrypoint API content preview page. It will automatically be sized and scaled.
It is not possible to change the background of the banner on Shopify from grey.
- Once the customer engages with the initial CTA on the Entrypoint API page, all the following pages in the Referral journey that the customer will interact with are managed through the Mention Me platform. These pages can be reviewed and edited as usual, with content displayed exactly as shown in the preview.
- Note: any changes that you make in the EntryPoint API preview page will impact any Mobile App implementations that you may be using powered by the EntryPoint API.
