About this Flow
With this flow, you can remind prospective customers (referees) to use their new coupon codes they have received from being introduced to your brand.
By implementing this flow you can encourage prospective customers to help:
- Drive First Purchase
- Increase Average Order Value
The flow utilises data sent from Mention Me to Klaviyo through the integration and the Flows functionality of Klaviyo
The pre-built flows contain suggested copy and include variables from Mention Me events and customer profile attributes to allow for easier implementation.
Pre-requisites
- An active Mention Me powered referral program that rewards existing customers with a reward
- The latest version of the Mention Me / Klaviyo enabled (You can check this by clicking here)
- If the Integration state says Enabled, then you are on the latest version
- If the Integration state says Not Connected, then you will need to set it up by following this guide
- If the Integration state says Enabled, then you are on the latest version
- Knowledge of Klaviyo Personalisation variables
Supported channels
Basic workflow
- A prospective customer of your brand gets a coupon when their friend introduces them (First email sent by Mention Me)
- Because of GDPR restrictions, Mention Me is not allowed to send follow-up reminders, so we recommend that you send the reminders.
- A reminder email (subject to consent) is sent to them to use the coupon if they have not purchased since entering the flow
- Further reminders are sent at different times to encourage the customer to use their coupon if they have not purchased since entering the flow
Steps to create the flow
- Install the pre-configured flow
- Add a Placed Order filter to the trigger
- Add content to the reminder emails
- Test the preview of the emails
- Activate the flow
Step 1: Install the flow
- Login to Klaviyo and click flows
- Select Mention Me from the list of integrations
- Select the Referee Coupon Reminder
Step 2: Add a Placed Order filter to the trigger
- Edit the Flow Trigger and add a Profile Filter to only target referees who have Placed an Order Zero times since entering the flow
- This is needed to ensure you don't send reminders to referees who have already purchased since they got their reward
- When adding in the filter, ensure that you use the Placed Order purchase event from your e-commerce platform that you have linked to Klaviyo (i.e. Shopify, BigCommerce)
Step 3: Add content to each email
- Update the emails to include images and styling to suit your brand
- Mention Me has created some default content with suggested variables (for your email subject, preview and email body) to help you formulate the right message.
- If creating your own email, make sure to include these key variables.
- Add product recommendations to help drive the purchase

Personalisation variables used in emails
The following personalisation variables from Mention Me data are used in the emails:

Step 4: Test the preview of the email
- Test the preview of each email by clicking Preview & test
- Select a customer from the filter who has met the criteria of being triggered in the event
- The email will be populated with the relevant event information

Step 5: Activate the flow
- Once you are happy with the content and you have tested the emails, you can activate the flow
- Click Review and turn on in the flow design screen to activate
