Running a time-limited referral promotion or competition is an effective way to boost customer acquisition during a particular time period or seasonal event.
To get a promotion up and running, decide on the following elements:
- Your special offer - this needs to be compelling enough for your customers to engage with. It should be even more enticing than your standard offer:
- E.g. entry into a prize draw, a more valuable incentive, tickets to an event, early access to a specific sale, exclusive preview to a product or collection, free item, longer validity period, partnerships, etc
- The conditions of the promotion:
- When will your promotion start and end?
- When must referees purchase by to qualify for the reward?(This date is normally a few days after the experiment ends. Any subsequent purchases will qualify for the valid reward at that time.)
- What are the referrer conditions? For example, do referrers have to share with at least three people, do their friends need to purchase to enter the competition entry, etc
- How you’ll promote your special offer:
- E.g. in your newsletter, via a solus email, on your homepage, social media, etc.
Once your competition ends, your Client Success Manager can send you the report of eligible referrers so you can select your winner(s).
Note: When setting up a time-limited offer you also have to set up previous offer as the follow up offer. If you don’t do that, once the time-limited offer ends you will have no running offers, missing an opportunity to use your referral programme.
