This guide explains how to confirm a customer has purchased when the Mention Me platform hasn't automatically confirmed it.
Confirming a purchase ensures a reward is sent to the referrer. If the Offer has an "after purchase" reward, the referee will be given a reward too.
This process happens automatically for the majority of customers.
However, if a customer signs up as a referee with a different email to their purchase, manual confirmation might be needed.
For instance, if Customer A refers Customer B, and Customer B uses different emails for registration and purchase, the platform can't recognise the successful referral.
Integration issues can also lead to this problem. If you frequently encounter this issue, make sure that your integration is correctly sending us all customer orders with the accurate email information.
To confirm a customer purchase:
1. Access the Customers section in the platform.
2. Search for the new customer (referee) by email and click their account link.
If the details don't appear, the email might be incorrect or the referral process wasn't followed correctly, requiring manual addition of the referee.
3. Go to Actions and select 'Confirm Purchase.'
If this option is unavailable, it may be because an introduction has not been made yet or has already been confirmed.
4. From this screen you'll be presented with a set of introductions and the associated transactions. You can select an eligible transaction or record a new transaction.
In the example below, the customer has made a purchase which we didn't consider eligible because it was under the £500 minimum spend. However, we want to ensure both parties get their reward anyway. Here we should confirm the £458.40 purchase as being eligible.
In the case where the customer was introduced as part of a promotion, we'll also show whether confirming the purchase will satisfy the promotion:
In general, confirming an existing purchase is the best course of action - and if unavailable you can record a new purchase. However, if this occurs frequently, you should reach out to our team to investigate why purchases are frequently missed.
5. Once a purchase is confirmed, the relevant rewards will be given out.
