This article explains why Mention Me might request new reward vouchers for your referral programme. You'll learn the main reasons we contact you, how voucher validity works, and best practices to keep your rewards flowing smoothly for customers.
Why does Mention Me need more vouchers?
We may reach out to request more vouchers for three main reasons:
- Running out: We’re low on voucher codes or about to use the last ones.
- Expired or short validity: Some existing codes have expired or are close to expiring.
- Multi-use voucher issues: These codes can introduce fraud risk or get used up quickly.
Running low on vouchers
If you receive an email from us, it could simply mean we have nearly used up your existing batch of vouchers.
Expired or short validity vouchers
Vouchers can expire if an end date is set in your system. If the expiry is approaching, we’ll ask for new codes to prevent any reward disruption.
Types of voucher expiry
- Simple expiry: Codes expire on a set date (e.g. SUMMER15 valid until 31 August). Please share the expiry date when you provide these codes.
- Complex expiry: Referee codes might last 7–14 days, while referrer codes can be valid for months or years.
Voucher validity doesn’t impact offer length but does impact distribution. If rewards should be valid for 6 months, but the codes expire in December, distribution should stop in July.
We recommend using long-validity vouchers (e.g., 10 years) to avoid frequent resupply requests and ensure a great customer experience.
You can check your current reward validity in the Mention Me platform.
How to find your reward validity period
- Click "Campaigns"
- Click the name of the campaign you wish to review. Validity may vary between campaigns and between experiments.
- Click "Preview / Edit"
- Click "Design and settings"
- Click "Offer validity"
- The Referee offer validity period is displayed immediately, and the Referrer period can be seen by clicking the down arrow.
Multi-use vouchers
We recommend avoiding multi-use voucher codes when possible because:
- Fraud risk: Generic codes like "SUPERSALE15" can be widely shared by non-referred users.
- High depletion risk: A limited number of uses means the reward pool may run out quickly.
If you do use multi-use vouchers, please provide at least 15–20 codes to accommodate potential reward claims.
Voucher alerts: keeping your programme running
